In what could be called a turning point for robotic surgery, FDA cleared da Vinci 5, the latest surgical robotics system from market pioneer Intuitive Surgical. The da Vinci 5 will initially be available only to a small number of U.S. customers before a wider commercial launch.

Industry Braces for New Sterilization Regs

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published new regulations on ethylene oxide (EtO) use in sterilization. The EPA said the rules are designed to protect people from EtO pollution while also minimizing disruption to the medical device supply chain.
